New Network Card

I'm trying a new network card. After putting in the new card (and having a little trouble getting it to seat correctly), Ubuntu came up with no network.

Entering lspci | grep ontroller showed the card available, but no response to SSH.

A little research showed a file called /etc/iftab that apparently stores the MAC address of the ethernet interfaces. The MAC of the old card was recorded there.

The command ip addr showed the MAC of the new card. I had to modify iftab with the new MAC to get things to work. PuTTY now connects like a charm.

Now, I will test again to see if the server performs better.
